I lived in Cheverly as a child and returned to raise my family here. I have taught in DC Public Schools since 2009 and was elected to represent Ward 4 in 2025.
My approach to serving on the Council is straightforward: understand the issue, explain the tradeoffs, follow up, and make sure residents know not only what is happening, but why.

Council Work · 2025–2026
Projects, issues, and improvements I’ve been focused on since taking office.
I have worked with county and state partners on the signal system at Cheverly Avenue, Columbia Park Road, Arbor Street, and US 50. A key step was bringing the Metro-area signal under SHA control so the three nearby lights can be coordinated.
I have also pushed for adaptive signaling so the intersection can respond to traffic conditions. As a temporary measure, bollards were installed to discourage red-light running; the Police Chief has said they have helped.
Partner: Prince George’s County Council Member Shayla Adams-Stafford helped bring the agencies together and has continued pressing for timely updates.
Since 2022, I have worked with the Town to advance a shared-use connection along the 202/450 corridor between Kilmer Street and the Peace Cross area. That project is now moving through design.
The Town has also received a Kim Lamphier Bikeways Network Program award for a new connection to the Anacostia River Trail near the bottom of 52nd Avenue.
I have been working with county and state partners to make the case that Cheverly’s industrial area is unusually well positioned: close to Metro, close to Washington, and already suitable for research and development uses.
I am exploring partnerships with organizations including TEDCO, MEDCO, and the University of Maryland that could help attract technology-transfer, research, and spin-off businesses. The long-term goal is a lower-emission employment district that connects to and benefits from its location along the Anacostia River.
The new track around Town Park is open. To ensure our Boys and Girls Club had the field size they had requested when we designed the new public works building, I asked that the field be measured against the dimensions the contractor had agreed to. It did not meet them, and the contractor completed additional grading. The result is both the new track and a properly sized field.
At Boyd Park, we have led improvements including an automatic security gate and court resurfacing. I want to make sure I shout out our excellent Town staff in making that happen! I have also worked with the new owners of the church site at 64th Avenue and State Street, who have agreed in principle to allow the parking lot to serve as Boyd Park overflow parking when the church is not in service. The Town and church still need to work through operating details.
I serve on the building-utilization committee for the former Hoyer building. Following a water-main failure, the building was condemned and is slated for demolition.
I continue to work with the County to preserve use of the field, which is actively used by the Cheverly Soccer Club. The parcel will remain PGCPS-owned while the community and school system better understand the future school needs associated with the Cheverly Hill development.

I attend the Ward 4 Civic Association meeting every month. It is a good place to hear updates, raise concerns, and ask questions directly. Join us on Zoom!
